The principle of continuous improvement begins in every training session, and it is the base to surpass the desired level of performance and reach optimal potential
“It takes time to create excellence. If it could be done quickly, more people would do it”
– John Wooden
“Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard”
– Kevin Durant
“Don’t measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability”
– John Wooden
What does continuous improvement look like in basketball?
How can your child succeed by partnering with Crescent Basketball Academy?Crescent Basketball Academy (CBA) has developed a youth basketball program focused around Continuous Improvement. Each lesson plan is geared to develop player skills so each and every time a child is on the court we are working towards improvement. Qualified coaches lead a structured and fun approach focused on 80% training and 20% scrimmage for each weekly session.
A STRUCTURED CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT APPROACH:
Dribbling with your head up is a challenge for most children when starting to play basketball.
Dribbling with your head up with speed is even more challenging.
Following a structured improvement plan will allow for tangible improvements

Define
The goal is to have the ability to dribble with your head up at game speed

Measure
Assess the current ability of the player to dribble with their head up and at what speed this can be done. How much control does the player have, can they dribble with both hands and crossover etc.

Analyze
Analyze where the gaps currently are – What are the current barriers (Player may have a harder time dribbling with their weaker hand and keep their head up)

Improve
Develop an improvement plan of drills – Tie strong hand behind their back and and hold a spoon with a ping pong ball in it with their weaker hand and run with their head up

Control
Continue to practice and improve!!
Our structured lesson plans are focused on repetition, focused on the fundamentals of basketball. Our progress reports will allow parents to track their child’s progress and identify areas for improvement
